When I first started writing Galaxy’s Child, I quickly realized that it was only the beginning. As the story began to form on the page, I saw that I had too much to tell for just one book. I therefore had to envision this story as part of a trilogy, an arc big enough to span worlds, ideas, and lives. And now, the journey continues.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially started working on Book Two of the Starborn Trilogy.
Looking Back
Book One introduced you to Philip Anders, a reluctant hero drawn into events far larger than himself. It laid the foundation. We were introduced to faster-than-light travel, the mysteries of Ava, the sacrifices of other characters, and the weight of discovery that comes with touching the stars.
But that was just the beginning.
What’s Ahead
Without giving away too much (spoilers disrupt the timeline 😉), Book Two will take the story into new territory. You’ll see deeper explorations of ancient civilizations, the consequences of humanity’s first steps into the wider galaxy, and the rise of a mentor figure who will shape Philip into the leader he needs to become. It will be a story of war and peace, betrayal and redemption, and the kind of choices that echo across generations.
Writing the Next Chapter
Writing Galaxy’s Child helped prepare me for this next step in more ways than one. I’ve spent a lot more time brainstorming new characters and developing the storyboard, making sure Book Two isn’t just a repeat of what came before. This time around, though, the process looks very different. When I wrote Galaxy’s Child, I was on sabbatical, dedicating six hours a day, five days a week, to the story. Now, with a full-time job, writing has become a juggling act.
I’ve discovered I can’t just “squeeze in” an hour here or there, my brain doesn’t fully switch into story mode that way. Early mornings don’t work for me, and neither do lunch breaks. So, I’ve had to adapt, starting my workday earlier, finishing earlier, and carving out those precious afternoon hours for writing. It isn’t easy, but the story deserves my best effort and so do the readers who’ve joined me on this journey.
What This Means for the Blog
All this to say, I’m going to keep writing, but it does mean making a few adjustments. As of now, I’ll be posting one blog per week on Thursdays instead of two. My priority has to be putting Book Two on the page. My hope is to find a rhythm that will allow me to publish Book Two by the second or third month of 2026. And along the way, I’ll use this blog to keep you posted on how the writing journey unfolds, the struggles, the breakthroughs and the milestones. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Galaxy’s Child, it’s that the journey matters just as much as the destination.
